Noblette & Curdz Win Big at the American Cheese Society’s 2019 Judging and Competition

Our Brie, Noblette, brought home first place in the “Soft-Ripened Cheese” category at the American Cheese Society’s 2019 Judging & Competition. To add to our excitement, our Calkins Creamery Curdz also won second place in the “Fresh Unripened Cheese: Cheese Curds'' Category that year!

We’re proud to announce that two of our cheeses won big at the 2018 PA Farm Show’s Cheese Competition. The annual event, celebrating its 102nd year in 2018, awarded first place to our Hop and Spicy Curdz and our mushroomy Noble Road brie in each of their respective categories.

Old Man Highlander Named August 2011’s Cheese of the Month by Grid Philly

In the summer of 2011 our nutty Gouda, Old Man Highlander was named Grid Philly’s Cheese of the Month. While that was an honor in itself, we especially loved that the article's author opined, “If Robert Redford were a cheese, he’d be this one.”

Georgic

Georgic is our fresh, pasteurized Quark-style cheese.

Georgic has a creamy texture and a slightly tart taste. The light and fluffy texture make it perfect for many culinary treats.

Schmear it on toast with honey or preserves, bake a cheesecake, and use it as a fresh fruit dip. It is the base of our line of dips.

Georgic Flavors:

  • Plain — creamy, delicious.

  • Olé — infused with garlic seasoning.

  • Horse Kick — infused with horseradish and peppercorns.

  • The Garden — infused with chives.

  • Gardenia Italiano — infused with sundried tomatoes, basil, and Italian seasonings.

Our Georgic cheese has received four awards from the American Cheese Society in the fresh unripened cheese category, taking 1st place in 2013, 2nd place in 2014, 3rd place in 2015, and 3rd place in 2022.

In 2016, Georgic took 2nd place for the best soft cheese from cow milk at the Pennsylvania Farm Show.

Curdz

Cheese curds are little bites of cheesy heaven.

Calkins Curdz are small pieces of fresh pasteurized cow’s milk roughly the size of peanuts in the shell, with a mild and cheddar-like flavor. A bit salty with a squeak to finish.

If you don’t eat them all during a snack, try battering and frying them, or pile high on some gravy french fries for an amazing poutine dish.

  • Plain Curdz: Classic Calkins cheese curds left plain for eating and culinary creations.

  • Cajun Curdz: Calkins cheese curdz with a solid dose of cajun seasoning.

  • Everything Curdz: Calkins cheese curdz covered in everything seasoning.

  • Garlic & Chive Curdz: Calkins cheese curds mixed up with some minced garlic and chive seasoning.

  • Hop and Spicy Curdz: Calkins cheese curdz bathed in Hop Baron’s hop and spicy barbeque rub.

Our cheese curds took 2nd place in the fresh unripened cheese, cheese curds, all milk category in the 2019 American Cheese Society contest.

Noble Road

A soft-ripened, pasteurized cow’s milk Brie, covered in a beautiful white, bloomy rind.

Noble Road has a delicate creamy interior bursting with a buttery flavor and a fresh earthy, mushroomy aroma.

During the few weeks of aging, Noble Road becomes soft and curvy, with oozing paste waiting to be enjoyed.

Pair this gem with fresh fruit and honey, or wow your friends with a baked Brie creation.

In 2017, the American Cheese Society awarded Noble Road 2nd place in the soft-ripened cheese category (white surface mold-ripened cheeses). In 2018, we took 1st place in the same category.

Noblette

A Brie-style artisan cheese shaped in a small basket mold.

Noblette is a pasteurized, fresh cow's milk cheese, aged a minimum of 3 weeks aging from the outside in — it’s the epitome of buttery, earthy, mushroomy, Brie-like goodness.

This award-winner partners well with rustic bread, fruit, and of course, wine!

*Noblette is the smaller wheel version of our Noble Road cheese.

Noblette has been the recipient of many awards, taking 1st place for surface-ripened cheese from cow milk in 2015 and 2016 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show.

In 2019, we were awarded 1st place by the American Cheese Society for the best soft-ripened cheeses — Brie — made from cow’s milk.

Noblette also took 1st place at the World Championship Cheese Contest in 2020’s Brie category.

Vampire Slayer

The name says it all…beware! Our stirred curd cheddar base is infused with minced garlic, onion, and paprika to become the beast it is.

The wax-dipped wheels of raw milk wonder are aged for a minimum of 2 months, allowing the robust garlicky flavor to develop.

Old Man Highlander

Raw milk, cave-aged Gouda-style heartthrob with a nutty swagger.

Aged for 6 months, bearing a rustic exterior, though inside, it’s all walnuts and sweet cream.
